Tiago Pires holds the title for the 8th Annual Nixon Surf Challenge. We were blessed with a 6-8 foot swell for the final day of the Nixon Surf Challenge. Although a grey drizzling day, it was by far the best waves ever had at the contest.

Surfers sleepily arrived to the beach at noon, after an eventful evening that kicked off with Sunny Abberton presenting in person his moving documentary, The Bra Boys, followed by dinner at the spectacular La Perla Restaurant, which has the most magical view of San Sebastian and stunning Basque cuisine. After dinner the crew took off to take over the Old Town living up to the Surf Challenge's reputation, good times, fun atmosphere with great friends! MORE

Daily Roundup

22.9.07 - The boys awoke in San Sebastian to a quite different scenario than the previous day. What was a sunny playful 4 ft day in Playa Zurriol, overnight turned into a cloudy, drizzling day with 6 to 8 ft grinding rights. The competitors were psyched as the conditions got better and better throughout the day. The Nixon Surf Challenge will remain a fresh memory in everyone’s mind as 2007 was by far the best year yet. Amazing surfing went down throughout the day, but it was Dylan Graves, Tiago Peres, Jonathan Gonzalez and Cheyne Magnusson that made it into the final. The beach was raging in anticipation to see the boys demolish the Spanish beach break. Cheyne had the lead through most of the heat, but Tiago and Jonathan made a quick comeback in the end of the heat. Tiago's surfing was precise; he firmly proved why he’s been seeded for the WCT in 2008. Good times were had by all and guaranteed next year will be a sight to see. Stay tuned for the wrap up on the nights celebration.
